Mission
Xtreme Academy exists to empower and
equip young boys, restore individual dignity,
a sense of self-worth and physical well
being. By using a holistic approach these
teenagers are learning the disciplines of
participating as team members, both on and
off the soccer pitch, as members of the
Xtreme Football Team. Through partnership
with local organisations they are taught ‘life
skills’ which will enable them to make
informed choices about their future and
understand the consequences of the
choices they make.
Vision
To enable teenage boys to meet their
education and behavioural needs.
Many of whom have had low achievement
and low ambition, often realise their full
potential and become an inspiration to
others, as a direct result of being given the
opportunity to be part of the Xtreme
Academy Soccer Club.
From Football team to Academy….
In 2007 it was noted by a local young man Xander Labuschagne that there was no under 20 Christian soccer team in the town of
Vaalwater, that dedicated a team to building a brighter future and with steadfast foundations. Hence he started the “Xtreme
Football team” .
All members of the team are disadvantaged boys from the local township, Leseding, where most of them live in simple two room
purpose built ‘RDP’ houses or corrugated tin shacks, many with no electricity or running water in their homes.
The boys have shown their commitment and dedication to playing on the team and have also recognised
the importance of completing their studies at high school to further their future opportunities and
making better choices concerning life isseus.
These boys grow from strength to strength and has become an inspiration to the people around them.
Xander “Xan” Labuschagne
“It’s really a way of life, and not just a soccer team.”
“I played rugby in school, but knew the way to get the attention of these young men was through soccer.
So I studied the sport in my own time, and used this knowledge to find even footing from where I could
start with the lads. But, on the whole I am more involved with the boy’s everyday life.  It’s almost like
being a second father to these guys.
I am currently studying a BhD in Theology, Youth, with Sport Ministry and “Walking with wounded
Children”  being my major objectives. The need grows everyday, and I want to be prepared.
It is my dream that the Xtreme Soccer Academy will grow into an avenue that moulds and produces fine,
well rounded young male leaders for  the community and for South Africa.”
